Wild Coffee (Pyschotria nervosa)

I just love my Wild Coffee plants. I've got six planted in the shade under my oak tree and they're just thriving. I particularly like them this time of year when they are blooming. Such pretty clusters of tiny white flowers and with the texture of the leaves, it really makes them stand out. Native plant nurseries usually have these in stock if your interested.

  1. Very pretty! I like the fact that it attracts birds and butterflies, too. Do you know if can handle full sun, or does it need filtered sun through the branches?

  2. Thanks Natalie. I'll have pictures up next week if all goes well.

Laura, I'm not sure about planting them in full sun. I have a couple that I started from cuttings, I will set them out and see if they can handle it and I'll let you know.

  3. I'm finding it amusing how your Wild Coffee's Latin name, Psychotria nervosa, sounds like some medical disorder one might have from drinking too much coffe. ;-) (that IS Latin, isn't it?)

  4. Too funny. It is Latin, and I would have put it in italics, but I was having technical difficulties. Aaarrggg!!!

  5. t beat the name: Psychotria nervosa. I use it in conversation often:

How are you today Paulie? I'm a little psychotria nervosa, thanks for asking. But it's okay, there's vodka in the house.
