The vegetable garden is awaiting work right now, so I've just been snapping pics of my flowers in bloom around the yard. This beauty is the Cotton plant in some of it's different stages. A neat plant to have around, especially if you have little kids.
Remember when you had cotton at your first house and the squirrls took it for their nests? That always makes me smile when I think of it. The hurricane tore up their nests and it looked like it was snowing in your back yard...Mom
ReplyDeleteMy aunt lived way up in the country when I was little and she had a huge cotton field next to her house. I used to love to go out and there and pick some.
ReplyDeleteSeeing those pics brought back some great memories!
I've never even thought of growing cotton down here. What a great plant to have around for both kids and wildlife!
ReplyDeleteMom, glad your back on. Missed your comments. I'll try to call you this evening.
ReplyDeleteSCmomma, a whole cotton field for a little one to explore and pick, now that does sound like fun!
Laura, hope you and Rick have a good day today. 25 years is wonderful!
Beautiful flower.
ReplyDeleteDoes it smell good?
I think Bath and Body Works has a cotton flower scented goo.
I always wondered if cotton flowers actually do smell good.
Hi there. I love the pics! I think Connor would love to see the cotton plants. The next time we come over we would love to see them, since I never seen one before. I'll talk to you soon...

FC, since I don't have a sense of smell, I sent hubby out to do a sniff test. He tried a few and as pretty as they are, they have no scent.
ReplyDeleteJenn, Elizabeth was just asking yesterday for you all to come over. :)
What a lovely plant. Thanks for the photos. I've never seen a cotton plant. I wonder if we could grow them in Newfoundland.
