Threecollie, we have quite the baby grackle nursery right now. Four of them were lined up on the fence yesterday crying for momma. Poor girl has to be tired.
I miss my Polish chickens. We only had five but predators took them right away. I actually saw one departing in the talons of a hawk. They say their top knots limit their vision and I guess that's why they were targeted.
Wow, I love them all, but especially the last one. That is a fantastic shot!

ReplyDeleteLove, love your photos again.
It's quite active around the pond. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteGranny Annie, we have a Red-shoulder Hawk that has tried a couple times to snatch up the girls. They've been lucky so far....
ReplyDeleteDarla, it's the place to be! :)
Wow! Love the grackle shot.
ReplyDeleteI think I have the same Iris, a friend gave it to me.
Nice shots. I find ponds are so relaxing and visually stimulating.
ReplyDeleteFrogs! Love em! And your flowers are lovely as always!
ReplyDeleteFC, it's my favorite iris! There's just something about that deep purple color that always gets me.
ReplyDeleteProspero, it's a great place to unwind.
Lisa, they are cute little buggers.
It was a dark and wordless Wednesday....
ReplyDeleteLove that moppy chicken and the deep deep purple. Do you get really big tadpoles?
Shamu, you would adore Cotton! She's a great chicken, but she really needs to pipe down or she's gonna get us busted.
ReplyDeleteSad to say, I haven't looked for any tadpoles before. I'll take care of that in a little while. :)
didnt cotton have white hair? or is this another chicken. i like the frog too!
ReplyDeleteif cotton doesnt pipe down i will take her. how big is she? i need a hen.
ReplyDeleteK9, Hubs and I have commented in the past, that if we ever did have to find her a home, we'd like it to be with you... you're a good chicken momma.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not sure what's up with her crest color. It's white in the back but not up front. That's okay, she's a cool looking girl either way.
Hmmm...I'd say she was about 18-19 inches tall and weighs about two and a half pounds.
