Seeds Sprouting

Wooohooo!

My seeds have sprouted their first true set of leaves! Won't be long now before I can put them in the ground.

As of right now, this is what I have growing in trays:

Cauliflower ~ Cheddar and Graffiti

Kale~ Redbor, Ragged Jack, Dwarf Blue Curled

Cabbage ~ Red Acre, Early Jersey Wakefield, Michihli

Spinach ~ Bloomsdale Long Standing

Eggplant ~ Rosita, Rossa Bianca

Broccoli ~ Romanesco Italia

Collards ~ Georgia Southern

Tomatoes ~ Isis Candy Cherry, Homestead, Bi - Color Cherry, Aker's West Virginia, Super Marzano Hybrid, Black Krim, Oroma, Heinz, Floradade

Pepper ~ Charleston Belle, Red Marconi Patio, Tequila Sunrise

I would like to try and grow parsnips this year. Has anyone tried these before in the garden?

Just a random dose of Jiggy cuteness before I leave. :)

Have a great day friends!

  1. Happiness is enjoying the beginning of your winter garden, while we harvest the last few things from our own. Thanks again for the seeds this spring!

  5. Susan, the cheddar cauliflower is awesome tasting!
I roast it in the oven with a little olive oil and salt and it comes out divine!

  6. I'm looking forward to updates about your garden. I would plant this fall but it looks like I'll be moving and gardens don't move too easily.

  8. Wish I had time to get in at least a fall lettuce garden. But, I'll just have to admire yours.

Jiggy is seriously cuter than a dog has a right to be.

  9. Pretty baby seedlings! Ugh, parsnips - good luck! I couldn't get them to germinate, well, not true exactly, I got tired of waiting and retilled the dirt and planted something else LOL. Also found out they can get REALLY huge and I had just "tucked them in" to a corner of the bed :)

  15. Dani, i'm so excited for you! I used to love seeing my first little sprouts! I love parsnips, they are so much more flavorful (and less bitter) than turnips. Great mashed with a bit of potato. My farmer from the CSA grew them successfully here last year and she is much further south. So it CAN be done! I look forward to seeing your progress.

  16. First that's some very serious sweetness in that face. :-)

LOVE the sprouts, impressive list of things you're growing. I'm always shocked when people are starting gardens in September. You are so lucky to live in a placw where there is... sunshine!

    Have a lovely weekend.

  17. We are trying to wrap our Northern minds around a winter garden. We will be in FL for the winter and plan to garden, but scary after such a cold winter last year. Cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce are all started and will be put in next week. Cross your fingers for a great growing winter.
