We were going to the Florida Aquarium on Sunday, and as we were passing the county land fill, we noticed all the birds hanging out around the retention ponds. Of course, we had to get off the interstate and come back around so that we could get some pictures. Wood Storks

Wow! Those bird shots are fantastic. I've always wanted to see a spoonbill but they must not live here in the panhandle. We see a lot of seagulls and pelicans but no spoonbills and certainly no eagles! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite sure what I did wrong this morning, but the pictures won't enlarge when you click on them. It just goes right to the link. AARRGGG!!!
ReplyDeleteI am SO jealous! I would love to see those birds for real! How awesome! Can you tell them they need to migrate up my way next summer?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the saying ... birds of a feather flock together. But there must be something "fishy" about that retention pond. That's it: it must be full of fish!
ReplyDeleteScMomma, your so sweet, thank you.
ReplyDeleteLisa, I love seeing them in flight, so beautiful.
Robert, your so funny! :)
How exciting and what a great find. I just adore those spoonbills... so unusually colored and well, that bill is just like none other. They come visit a few houses down from us when they can wade around in the pond.
ReplyDeleteYes, there would have to be plenty of goodies in those waters to attract all that wildlife.

Sixteen Spoonbills! And a very good close up.
ReplyDeleteI was bitten by a Roseate Spoonbill once - at the Aquarium.

ReplyDeletePaulie, it was so cool too see so many in one spot!
ReplyDeletePiney, sorry, but no Ivorybills. I'll keep a look out next time. :)
