We were going to the Florida Aquarium on Sunday, and as we were passing the county land fill, we noticed all the birds hanging out around the retention ponds. Of course, we had to get off the interstate and come back around so that we could get some pictures.

Wow! Those bird shots are fantastic. I've always wanted to see a spoonbill but they must not live here in the panhandle. We see a lot of seagulls and pelicans but no spoonbills and certainly no eagles! Great photos!

I am SO jealous! I would love to see those birds for real! How awesome! Can you tell them they need to migrate up my way next summer?
What's the saying ... birds of a feather flock together. But there must be something "fishy" about that retention pond. That's it: it must be full of fish!

How exciting and what a great find. I just adore those spoonbills... so unusually colored and well, that bill is just like none other. They come visit a few houses down from us when they can wade around in the pond.
Yes, there would have to be plenty of goodies in those waters to attract all that wildlife.

So that is where the woodstorks and spoonbills hang out! At the dump! I should have known!hahaha So I have to take a camera to the dump! Any ivory bills?
