Christmas Bird

I had a wonderful present on Christmas Day, a female Yellow- Bellied Sapsucker stopped in for a visit! How cool!

That is so wonderful!! I have, in all my years of fervent birdwatching, never, ever seen one. They are supposed to be common around here and I see the holes where they have drilled, but never a single bird. Congratulations!!

Thanks Three Collie! I had never seen one either. From what I've read, they migrate down here and on across the Gulf of Mexico. If she sticks around though I'll put in a good word for you. :)

Very cool. I haven't seen one of those around here yet... lots of red-bellied. I'm going to keep my eyes peeled. I did have peacocks however. Sigh.

Darla, I love the pattern on her belly, very striking!

Meems, I had to show Hubby the picture you have of them sitting on the tree limb. Not your usual yard bird, that's for sure! ;)

Pretty lil thing! I haven't seen any of them in Wisconsin but I saw one in Texas last summer. :)
