By the way, when this first loaded onto my computer I thought the first pict was of some exotic snake you peaceable kingdom folks had adopted. Very glad to see it was not a snake.
I wish I had a screened contraption. Did you make it? I have so many Swallowtail cats that they don't enough food. I really need to figure this out better so we can help them survive. Meems
Meems & Chris, it's happened to me too. When I run out of food, I go and buy a bunch of organic parsley at the grocery. It has to be the organic though. I've tried the non organic and it killed all the caterpillars.
I am glad that you showed these to me b/c I've seen these caterpillars and freaked out! But if they turn into THOSE butterflies, well that will be fabulous. Neat-o!

Threecollie, I'm amazed each and every time one completes the entire cycle!
ScMomma, this morning when I released it, it decided to hang out on my arm for about a minute. Too cool!
FC, it really is! :)
Darla, hopefully, I'll have some Giant Swallowtail Caterpillars to share soon. They are really neat!
Shamu, so.... you're probably not going to want to see the pictures of my new snake I got the other night, huh? ;0
Hi Dani. Quite a remarkable transformation!
Maybe New Snake can make friends with the Garden Eating Bunny. Kumbyeyaaa y'all.
Prospero, it always reminds me of the ugly duckling book. :)
Shamu, HAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHA!
Garden Eating Bunny has gotten quite large now. He better watch out for the coyotes...
Dani,
That is so great. Love the whole process.

I'm having the same problem as Meems.Too many caterpillars and not enough food. But we did finally get a chrysallis yesterday.I really like your idea.

Meems, we bought the cage at Petmart a couple years ago for my snakes. If I'm not mistaken, it ran about $55.00.
"...snakes" Plural?
Shamu, at the time I had four, but that was a few years ago. Now, all I have is a little Ringneck that John brought home for me the other night.
Most days it feels like a nature center around here. ;)

WOW! So awesome! I wanna play with you!
We are the lucky neighbors that live across the street and get to enjoy all of the beautiful "dani"flys as they flutter by!
Kimchi, you should gather the caterpillars up the next time you see them. Your little one would love it!
Lisa, come on over girlfriend! :)
Judy, you two are the best neighbors! And you have screech owls! That totally rocks!
