Dim Sum Sunday ~ Making Mole Poblano

For this week's Dim Sum Sunday theme of Chile Peppers, we thought we would cook up some yummy mole sauce.

This was a very time consuming recipe, (definitely not something you should start at 4 in the afternoon, when you decide that the recipe you had picked out, seems lame) with a whole lot of steps and ingredients, but all the work is worth it. The end result is a yummy complex taste. Spicy, but with a underlying sweetness from the chocolate.

Yuuuuuuuuuuummy!

Head on over to the Karmic Kitchen for some more fun with Chile Peppers.

WOW. How beautiful both your ingredients and your final dish. Yes mole was considered and rejected at the House of the Big Shamu. If I ever teach the dogs how to do laundry, then Dim Sum Sundays might be a little more complex. I commend you on your efforts and I appreciate it. I hope it tastes as good as it looks because it looks wonderful.

I love a good mole but it is a lot of work. More than I'm willing to do. I took a cooking class years ago at one of the local restaurants and they did a mole turkey. Tasted great but nixed making it at home when I saw how much work it was - in a proffessional kitchen!
Happy DSS!

Sham, laundry doin' dogs would have come in handy last night. Cause man, our kitchen was trashed! There's even sauce splatter on the ceiling(had to Johns fault). Big mess and all, it was a blast and I'm glad we did it.

Happy DSS :)

Buzz, it was crazy! But, that first bite tonight made it all good. :)

We need to start recruiting the non-DSSers to clean up after us.

Holy Mole! (dumb pun intended!) That looks fabulous, and I still have Ancho Poblanos growing... hmmm, maybe I can get the kids out of my kitchen long enough to try it!

That mole looks very good! What recipe did you use, Dani? There are so many different kinds!

Ok, this was not a good thing to do first thing in the morning...I want crab cakes, bison balls and mole for breakfast!!

Diva, hehehe, now we're all calling them bison balls. ;0

We used a recipe off a blog that I can't name cause there were A LOT of goofs in it. Luckily, we had a Diana Kennedy book laying around that we switched over to.

Looks very nice. I don't have the patience to make stuff like that.
