Besides providing a meal for Mockingbirds what are Beauty berries good for? Jam? Wine?

Sham, I've never heard of anyone using them for jams or wines. But, I'll look it up just to be sure.

How're you feelin'?

Had to hit the Vicodin bottle last night after the first day back to work but I certainly woke up perky and ready to go today!
I'm really glad they mark your leg for surgery but damn that ink does not wash off.

Thanks Threecollie! :)

Shamu, yeah, I can't imagine sporting surgery ink is quite the look one wants to have. ;)

Ouch! I'm glad today is better for you. Driving yet? Or is that still too much?

Hopefully the driving ban will be lifted tomorrow. Either that or the doc will be shuttling me around.

You on for Dim Sum Sunday this week?

Fingers crossed friend. ((hugs))

Yep, we're in. But this morning, Elizabeth heard us talking about the halloween snack part in your post. And now she has her heart set on making spooky cupcakes.
It's hard sometimes trying to reason with an eight year old...

Regarding the beauty berry. I am a historian and was told that the early Florida pioneers used beauty berry for a dye.

I know the beauty berries will stain your hands, maybe it was used for a dye.

Dani said...

Cathy, I read too that they used the root for teas to treat different ailments.

Darla, have you ever grown the white beauty berry type in your gardens?

We had a beautyberry in our front yard for years. It was in some brush. And the birds loved it (I could tell by the periodic red stains on my car. My husband removed it thinking it was a weed. I really miss it and bet the birds do to. Does it grow well from seed? I'd like to try it again.
