I wish I had some yummy looking veggies to show you all, but the vegetable garden is quiet for right now. July, August and September tend to be our hottest months, and the veggies just can't handle those kind of temperatures.
Luckily, we have the wildflowers around the house putting on their summertime show. :)

Our veggies suck this year. Beautiful photos.
Darla, what happened? Too much rain?
No kidding about July being hot. Wicked hot. Good for cactus though...
some days natural beauty is the best--sumemr fer shure when the heat is oppressive to veggies and humans! whatever nature throws at us--then come Fall, why, the gentle hand of the gardener again grooms natures efforts--lovely!
OK funny hot story. I was walking the back trail out at Bowman's Beach. Lots of cactus and other wildlife. I'm trudging along when I see something stirring in the low scrub. I stop. Wait. Is it a small dog? Grey. Finally it clears the brush and he's got his little head down, deeply engrossed in his own raccoon thoughts. Didn't even see the big scary human not 5 feet away. He keeps going and FINALLY looked up, gave a little start and high tailed it away from the unexpected human to where ever he was going. Frankly he looked a bit grumpy to be up in the daylight and heat. I silently wished him luck that no gators or snakes also crossed his path.
Aunty, you're right, we just gotta keep trudging along till fall. Then let the fun times begin!
Shamu, I can just picture his little raccoon face. Holy Carp! Run away! Run away! :0
Hmmm...I wonder what deeply engrossing thoughts raccoons have?
Dude I have no idea but they were DEEP! Probably tax problems.
Sham, HAHAHAHAHHA!
Our veggie garden is toast this year, too.Your BeautyBerry is beautiful!
Dani - is it wrong that I come to your blog right now for the sole pupose of NOT seeing vegetables? I get so frustrated when my other garden blogger friends are posting picture after picture of gorgeous vegetables....and all I have is a dead lump in the garden. It's nice to know that there's another Florida gardener out there who "gets" the barren vegetable wasteland that is a FL summer.
Your flowers sure are nice though!
Beautyberry - pretty and cool name! :)
