He (she?) is a beauty. Do you have a feeder? (besides the obvious flowers and fauna) Great shots. I hope he sticks around so we can see more.
So they really DO exist down here? I've NEVER seen a hummingbird here, they are quite elusive. I miss my little hummingbird in CA, he used to come by my fuschias each day and drink!
Can't grow fuscia here either!

Shamy, I think it's a female Ruby Throat.
We only see them during the spring and fall migration when they cross the Gulf of Mexico. Which just blows my mind that as little as they are, they will fly anywhere from 18-30 hours over open water.
Diva, my bird book shows them in your area only as a winter guest.
They had fuschias for sale last week when I was at the flower shop. I almost got one, but changed my mind cause I can't keep them alive here either. :(
They're coming! My sage is just about to bloom, it better hurry before they get here!
Wonderful shots! I wonder if I should get the feeder out yet? They supposedly sometimes come back here in March, but I have never seen one before May
That first pic is a great shot. Those little wings are a blur they're moving so fast. I've never seen any hummingbirds here in Jersey. We just have woodpeckers
Erin, what kind of sage do you have planted for them?
ThreeC, this is the third one I've seen in the past two weeks, so they're definitely on the move.
Buzz, they're crazy fast for sure!! Amazing really.
I saw my first one last week, but I have never captured one as well as you did here!

Wow - I'm in awe of your photos once again, this time in part because you were able to catch such a fast-moving critter :) They definitely helped up the "positive" quotient to my day (although my errant post finally showed a little after 12:00, er, p.m. - silly me).
