Carnivorous Plants

Since it's slow in the veggie garden right now, I thought I'd share some of John's carnivorous plants with y'all.

Have a great weekend friends.

Hopefully, it'll warm up some and I can get outside for a little while. The garden could really use some love and attention.

Ebay Treasure

A few weeks ago, I ran across these two items in eBay. An old handmade postcard book, filled with linen postcards that I instantly fell in love with. And the other one was a 1957 yearbook from my dads high school.

The postcards were in great shape, except in the corners where they had been taped down.

I paid 60 dollars for the yearbook.

I didn't know what I'd find, but turning the pages I came to this picture of the photography club. And sitting right next to the only girl, is my daddy with his black framed glasses. I swear I felt my heart break a little, but in a good way. Turns out, that 60 dollars gave me a gift that is now priceless.

A never before seen picture of my dad.

Dim Sum Sunday ~ Soup

It's hot steamy soup for this week's Dim Sum Sunday.

With a little help in the garden gathering some veggies and herbs, and a bit of slicing and dicing in the kitchen.

We had a nice pot of bubbling yummies to eat. Perfect for another cold day in Florida.

Lookin' for Love ~ Peacock Style

It has been brought to my attention that I shoot crappy a$$ videos, so I apologize in advance. ;)

Surgery for Mom

This morning, my sweet beautiful mom left her house out in the hollow, to make her way to a hospital in Kentucky for gastric bypass surgery. At 64, with stents and a pacemaker on her heart, it becomes a high risk surgery.

I pray that it will all be okay.

Dim Sum Sunday ~ Citrus

For this week's Dim Sum Sunday, we baked a Three Layer Orange Cake.

Yummy!

Our cake came out good, moist with just a hint of orange, and layered with a tangy orange filling. The cream cheese icing was nice and tart, a good compliment to the cake.

All together, it turned out to be very good. I think if we were to make it again, we'd maybe try a lemon version.
