Grandpa Bill




I came across this photo of my Grandpa Bill (far left) the other day, and I'm always amazed at what a wonderful photo this is. A snapshot in time, when my grandpa worked the mines and he was smiling and healthy. I like that.

Darla, very hard. I think back in the day, if the mine didn't kill you then the Black Lung did.

I have a similar one of my Great-uncle. :) Sure was a dirty job.

I remember running down our dirt road to meet him coming coming from the mines. There were no safety regulations All the minershad were picks shovels and a carbide lamp. Thank you for reminding me how lucky I am.

Tracey, I don't think it would ever be a job that I would want. I'm way too claustrophobic!
