Ducks at the beach?

Wow... In all the years we've been here, I've never seen them at the beach! The ponds around here are really low, or dried up in some cases. I wonder if that could be the reason?

I thought they might be injured but after watching them for awhile, you could tell they were just there to feed. Very strange.

Yeah, yeah! They are Black-bellied Whistling Ducks! I've seen them at beaches before... they also like salt marshes.

I would of said they are Teals rather than Black bellied whistlers.
Either way, I was surprised to see a pair of Teals on Lighthouse beach at Sanibel Island, three weekends in a row. It was a first for me too.
