Well, let's add pumpkins to the list of veggies that I'm not going to waste my time with. Between the Powdery Mildew and the Pickleworms, not to mention the Root Knot Nematodes, they were really struggling. And since space is a premium in my garden, they had to go. I had the little one pull them for us (I just couldn't do it). Poor little pumpkins, maybe next year will be better.

Bye Bye pumpkins

That's too bad about your pumpkins. Several years ago I planted some and they were the biggest, best pumpkins ever. But every year after that 1st year I had the same problems you've had and have never been able to grow them again. Odd.
I had a Jack B Little pumpkin volunteer from some spoiled ones that I tossed out and they did great, but otherwise, the pumpkin clan is a real challenge here in the land of mold.
Dang. :( Poor poor pumpkins. :)
We haven't had luck with them either. Someone at the Farmer's Market here told me they grow best up north, in Michigan and such.
ScMomma, it's so frustrating sometimes!!
FC, the mildew has been very problematic this year.
Lisa, I felt so bad when Elizabeth pulled them up. :(
Rurality, that makes sense, they don't have the humidity like we do in the south.
It's trial by error in the gardening world. You can't force a garden down the grounds throat ... you have got with the flow of what works ... and even then its lots of work.
Sad! I tend to get powdery mildew on my squash, same family I suppose!
I am even impressed you tried...between cross pollenation and the room they need...they seem impossible to grow!
Robert, trial and error is definitely right!
Darla, my squash did the same over the summer.
Amy, I know, then I see some people that have no trouble at all! Makes me a little jealous.
Your luck seems to be like mine...no pumpkins, no more cantalopes (except for the roue ones that popped up uninvited in my garden last month...I'll give them a shot), and no more watermelons. It's frustrating, isn't it?
SwampAngel, It is!! I had such high hopes this season of having little pumpkins, but it's just not going to happen.
