Shamu Tagged Me!

What is your current obsession? Growing my own food, taking pictures, reading books, sewing, caterpillars, my chickens, keeping up with my blogger friends, reptiles, amphibians, and stalking birds.

Weirdest obsession? My chickens

What are you wearing today? Jeans and my grey Rolling Stones t-shirt with a white layering tee underneath.

What's for dinner? Hmm...that's a good question.

What would you eat for your last meal? Brownies, ice cream, enchiladas.

What's the last thing you bought? Bun Buns flea meds

What are you listening to right now? the Mockingbird outside imitating the Great Crested Flycatchers.

What do you think of the person who tagged you? Shamu is wonderful! She can make me laugh and snort coffee up my nose like no other! And she's a dream when it comes to cooking. I'm glad she's my friend. :)

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished, anywhere in the world, where would it be? Sanibel Island, Florida

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? Point Pleasant, West Virginia. I would like to tend to my Dad's grave and do some charcoal rubbings.

What language do you want to learn? Spanish.

What is your favorite color? How do you pick just one? I love them all! But mostly the bluish-purple ones.

Favorite quote (for now)? "It's not about what I can't do, it's about what I can".

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe? I don't have a favorite

Dream job? Working with and rehabilitating birds of prey. Working with reptiles and amphibians.

Describe your personal style Jeans and t-shirts.

What is your favorite tree? Cabbage Palms

What are you going to do after this? Clean out the chicken coop, plant some more sunflower seeds, make myself and Elizabeth a snack, read her some books.

Favorite fruit? Peaches

What inspires you? Life on this great planet.

What are your favorite books? Field guides. I read them all the time. Maybe we should add that to the weirdest obsession question at the top.

What are you currently reading? A book of poetry

Go to your bookshelf, take down the first book with a red spine you see, turn to page 26 and type out the first sentence. Depending on the species, the glands may be distributed either longitudinally along the body axis or across the body.
Taken from: Florida Butterfly Caterpillars and Their Host Plants.

What delighted you the most today? Watching Elizabeth during swim lessons, big fluffy clouds stretching across the Gulf, seeing our backyard black snake.

By what criteria do you judge a person? I try not to judge people as a general rule.

Are you artistic or crafty? Both. I love working with my hands doing gardening or making something on the sewing machine.

oh you live well. you would really like my collection of 50's era field guides. the little goldens are the best. sanibel, you know i am a florida native and have never been there? i like cabbage palms too. have you ever held a big bird of prey? i held a falcon once - a trained hunting falcon. what a thing of beauty. even though a similar species killed my hen 'red".

chickens ARE NOT a weird obsession!

It's okay Shamu, I forgive you. ;)

Darla, I tend to shy away from tags, but this one was fun.

Chickory, I've only been there in the summer when it was nice and quiet. I bet the "in" season is pretty bad with the tourists.

Field guides from the 50's! Oh you lucky girl! I'm so jealous. :)

No, I've never held any before. Someday...I hope.

I'm doing my best to leave a fledgling blue jay to the care of his momma tonight, but man is it tough.

Shamu, I hate that! I always worry when I see young babies away from momma bird.
We have cats that run willy nilly around here and they like nothing better than to use the babies as their new chew toys.

I love field guides too. And birdwatching - which is something I can do for hours without ever getting bored. The old field guides that Chickory has sound really interesting!

You like reptiles, too? Cool! Not enough snakes in the world, IMHO. And, I think I'm headed towards the chicken obsession thing myself.

that is a very purty blossom at the top of this post!

What is it about field guides that calls to us? Love 'em!

So fun to peek into yore life.

ScMomma, we never get bored either with the birds. We have Cardinal babies right now in the yard and they are just the sweetest lookin' bits of fluff!

Moi, you would have liked the pet shop that we stopped in yesterday. Very clean and well kept with a huge stock of reptiles and amphibians.

Aunty, the flower is from the Blue-eyed Grass blooming by our pond. Such a dainty little thing!

Hey that was great!
"Brownies, ice cream, echiladas."

In that order?

LOL!
