i am thinking of buying some fertilized eggs for Easter to sit. Have you ever tried this? SHe has gone broody several times this past year. I feel for her. any insight?

Your veggies look so yummy. Winter vegetables are a lot easier to grow for me. Thank goodness they can take some low temps.
LOVE the color on the first viola/pansy(?). It makes me smile. Even on my best garden day, it never looks as good and delicious as yours. It's a good thing I'm not your neighbor because there would be a raiding party every night and I would so totally blame the rabbits.
Damn rabbits!

Thought of you yesterday when I sat down with my Heirloom seed catalog! Gotta go get me some horse poo this week....and start on the soil early. My winter garden has been a bust. A handful of green beans, some peppers, and my swiss chard has been 2 inches tall for 6 months....what am i doing wrong???

ThreeC, thank you friend for the kind words. I've found doing the genealogy that I come from a long line of farmers. Maybe the green thumb comes from that. :)

Susan, they're a lot easier to grow for me too. Not as many bugs out either to chew them all up. I like that.

Awww, so lovely! And I spotted some flamingos in that one shot too :)
Dani, Zinnias will get powdery mildew/mildew if they are too wet. They can go long stretches without watering, too much water also makes them fall over.

My friend Dr. Frank Egler was a friend of Rachel Carsons and he assisted her with Silent Spring. Like Rachel, Frank was a famous conservationist. You would surely enjoy reading one of Dr. Egler's books. It's called "THE WILD GARDENER IN THE WILD LANDSCAPE" and it's about the art of naturalistic landscaping.
I wish you well and thanks again for those lovely floral photos. A flower once saved my live. Seeing your's has revived me.
